THE STATE’S transportation department wants to hear from county residents about a proposed I-45 construction project when it hosts an open-house meeting on Tuesday.
During the public meeting, department officials will speak about design changes to the proposed improvement and reconstruction project, which will run from south of FM-518 to FM-1764.
The department, which has yet to announce a start date for the project, says the federal highway administration issued a “finding of no significant impact” for the project in 2010 and necessary design changes have been identified since then.

The proposed changes include revising the layout of entrance and exit ramps and constructing detention ponds to prevent flooding by holding excess storm water when necessary.
Officials at TxDOT say that around 20 acres of additional right-of-way will be required for the detention ponds.
Maps showing the proposed project’s location and geometric design will be available for viewing at the public meeting.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held at Victory Lakes intermediate school at 2880 West Walker Street in League City from 5:30-7:30pm.
The information will also be available for public review upon request until November 3 every weekday between 8:00am and 5:00pm at TxDOT’s 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, district office.
To view the information at the Houston office, contact Wahida Wakil by phone at 713-802-5513 or by e-mail at wahida.wakil@txdot.gov.
The information will also be posted on the department’s website, txdot.gov.
