BOTH HITCHCOCK and La Marque were well-represented on the recently-announced all-district 24-3A baseball teams, yet it was the Bulldogs, who advanced to the 3a, region III area round, whose presence was more dominant.
Hitchcock had eight players who received honors, with centerfielder Andre Derouen being selected as the district’s best defender as his play in the outfield erased many a run for the Bulldogs, much to the joy of his pitching staff. The team also had first team members in outfielders Jared Mancuso and Randy Williams while pitcher Michael Parker was the team’s third player to be chosen on the team.
Making the second team for the Bulldogs were catcher Hunter Thiem and shortstop Freddie Velez, while honorable mention was given to second baseman Roberto Delfin and shortstop Quinn Yarn.
La Marque outfielder David Owen was a unanimous choice on the all-district first team in a season where he led the Cougars in most of the team’s offensive numbers. Versatile Myles Launius, who pitched while also seeing time in the infield, was named as the utility player on the second team while outfielder-pitcher Duce Arvie and infielder Jeremy Limones were named to the honorable mention team
