Astros become road warriors in West Coast swing

Today, Sunday:
The bright lights of ESPN will be in Minute Maid Park when the Astros host Boston Red Sox in the finale of a three-game series beginning at 7:08pm. Joe Musgrove, 4-5 with a 4.81 ERA, makes the start for Houston and will make his second start since returning from the disabled list this past Monday when he allowed two runs and five hits over 4.2 innings while taking the loss to Texas Rangers. Red Sox hurler David Price brings his 1-1 mark and 5.09 ERA to the mound for Boston in what will be his fifth start after missing almost all of the first two months of the season due to an elbow injury sustained in spring training. Price gave up four hits and three earned runs over 6.1 innings this past Tuesday against Baltimore Orioles.

Tomorrow, Monday:
Bags will already be packed for the Astros as they leave Houston to face Oakland Athletics in the first of a seven-game road trip that will also include a weekend set against Seattle Mariners. Brad Peacock gets the start for Houston and will look to improve his 3-1 record and 3.00 ERA and will be opposed by Oakland rookie Brad Gossett, who will be making just his second major league start. Gossett gave up six hits and six earned runs in 3.1 innings in a loss to Miami Marlins this past Wednesday. The game will be televised live by Root Sports starting at 9:05pm

Frances Martes will pitch for Houston in the second game of the four-game set against Oakland beginning at 9:05pm. Martes won his first major league game against Texas Rangers this past Tuesday, striking out seven over the course of five innings. He will be opposed by Oakland’s veteran hurler Sonny Gray, who is 2-2 with a 4.44 ERA. Gray gave up three earned runs over 5.1 innings in getting a no-decision against New York Yankees this past Wednesday.
