Today, Wednesday: After two games at Arizona, the Astros welcome the Diamondbacks for a two-game set at Minute Maid Park. Houston goes with Charlie Morton, who comes into the game with a 9-5 record and 3.83 ERA while Arizona counters with Taijuan Walker, who has a 6-6 record and 3.76 ERA while also seeking his first win since June 21. AT&T Sportsnet starts its coverage at 7:00pm and leads into the 7:10pm start time for first pitch.
Tomorrow, Thursday: Dickinson plays host to its annual volleyball tournament as Galveston Ball and Texas City will be among the teams participating in the three-day event at Dickinson high school. Meanwhile, Clear Creek and Friendswood will be in New Braunfels for the 41st annual Frauleinfest volleyball tournament, which has become the second-largest tourney in the state. The Wildcats and Mustangs will be among the 32 teams that include a host of the top 6a and 5a programs in Texas. Meanwhile, Clear Falls heads to San Antonio to take part in the NEISD tournament that also runs through Saturday.
The Astros complete their series with the Diamondbacks with a 1:10pm start that will see Mike Fiers and his 7-7 record and 4.36 ERA take the mound for Houston against Arizona’s Patrick Corbin, who comes into the contest with a 9-11 record and 4.52 ERA. AT&T Sportsnet will begin their broadcast at 1:00pm.
Friday: A trio of volleyball teams not involved in tournament play will be in action as Hitchcock visits Brazosport and Clear Brook is at Dobie starting at 6:00pm, while Manvel is at Clear Springs beginning at 6:30pm.
Five area high school football teams will get their first chance to see how their squads stand up against competition during the first of two weeks of scrimmages. Hitchcock is at The Village School and Texas City visits Clear Brook beginning at 6:00pm. Brazosport is at La Marque while Santa Fe welcomes New Caney at 7:00pm.
Dallas Keuchel, who earned his first win since June 2 with a victory at Texas Rangers this past Sunday, takes his 10-2 record and 2.77 ERA to the mound when the Astros host Oakland Athletics for a weekend set starting at 7:10pm. Sean Manaea, 8-7 with a 4.59 ERA, goes for the visiting A’s in a game that will air live on AT&T Sportsnet.
Saturday: The Astros will start Collin McHugh and his 0-1 record with a 5.32 ERA against the A’s Kendall Graveman, who comes into the 6:10pm contest with a 3-3 record and 4.70 ΩRA. AT&T Sportsnet will have the game starting at 6:00pm. ?
