Each week Doc Amey answers questions from those who are looking for a way out of their current situations. Drugs, anger issues, all the stumbling blocks that so many of us tend to encounter as we pass through this world. Feel free to share your thoughts, questions, experiences and see how you can be the change you want to see. Email Doc at: Doc@ThePostNewspaper.net
I remember my mother telling me and my brother and sister to “watch your words” when we would get carried away arguing over a toy or a tv show. After speaking with Doc Amey this last weekend at the All in One Car show, I have a very different take on what that phrase can mean.
Here is Doc’s interpretation.
Going back all the way to the beginning of time God used words to form everything that we see around us today. Now let’s jump 2000 plus years when Jesus told us, that everything I do that you will do and even greater. And as we see in John 1 vs1-3 it says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was at the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
If you take a deep look at these three verses in the Book of John, it clearly tells you that Jesus was in the beginning with God and without Him, nothing was made. John 14 vs12 tells us “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also. And greater works than these he will do because I go to my Father.”
Now that I have laid the groundwork for you, we should see that if we are able to do even greater works that Jesus did, and He used Words to form the foundations of the Earth, can we just imagine for a second how powerful our words are? A lot of times we don’t really understand the words that we speak and in the context that we speak them that these same words are ultimately shaping our lives. I think when people really get hold of knowing that you get what you say then people will change how they talk.
Let me ask you this. What if you got everything you said as you said it? How much would your vocabulary change? That is something to really think about , right? Well, let me tell you that you have an enemy that hates your everyday existence. And he only has one real weapon against you. And those are your words. The enemy cannot ready your mind so he gives you negative thoughts, discouraging thoughts, in hopes that you will speak them out of your mouth, Because once you speak them out of your mouth, you have just given him ammunition to use against you. Because the Bible says in Proverbs 18 vs 21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.” So not only will your words be used against you if they are negative, but if you use positive faith-filled words, now you have given God something to work with. So you may think that just by you coming home and your back is hurting really badly and you look at your husband or wife and say “My back is killing me” you may say that in a joking manner to describe the pain but that is not how the enemy takes it. He wants to use it against you. So I would like to encourage you, no matter what it looks like no matter what it feels like, you have to speak from your mouth what you want it to be like. And ultimately, all I am basically saying here is You Get What You Say.
So my question to you is WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?
Be the Change You Want To Speak.
