BE THE CHANGE YOU CAN BE THANKFUL FOR

As we go through life, day by day, week by week, month
by month, and year by year, we tend to get complacent
and overlook the blessings in our lives and things to be
thankful for. As I sit back and take a look back at my
life I remember so many times that I was blessed and
should have been thankful yet I took those moments for
granted. I can remember sitting in a prison cell upset
with myself because I was in prison for the holidays not
realizing that yes, I may be in prison but I was alive.
So in today’s message, I want to just take a look at
all the things we have to be grateful for that we never
even think about. For instance, clean running water,
electricity, food in the icebox, friends and family. Nowadays
even little kids have a cellphone at the very least,
and maybe a tablet, laptop, even a tv in the backseat
of their car. Now think about the people in third world
countries who don’t have those same things. They drink
the water they bathe in, gather around a fire when it is
dark, if they are lucky there might be an animal on a
spit over the fire and when they communicate they do it
with a stick in the dirt. Yet we consider food and water
and even our phones and tablets necessities and think
we can’t live without them. So,
are you feeling thankful yet?
There are so many people in
the world and at one point I was
one of them, always complaining
about what they don’t have
while there is someone somewhere
praying just for something
to eat. So as we come to
this holiday season, don’t go
into it like every other year. Start
taking a look around and notice
the things you have in your life
that you once only prayed to
have. Start looking and thinking
about who you can reach out
to and lend a hand to someone
who may not be having such a good holiday season. Because
if you honestly think about it, there are so many
things that we can be thankful for and the people we
should be grateful to.
As I have spoken in previous messages time is the
most valuable asset that any person will ever possess.
So make sure this holiday season you are spending
time with those that matter. And if you know someone
who doesn’t have someone, Invite them over; share
your blessings. My prayer is for us as a people to start
realizing how blessed we truly are then you can be the
change you will be truly grateful for.
