TODAY, SUNDAY: The Texans make their first regular season trip to Los Angeles
when they meet the Rams for a 3:05pm contest that will be aired live on KHOU-11. At
3-5, Houston is two games behind the Jaguars and Titans for first place in the AFC
South and must adjust to quarterback Tom Savage, who had his highs and lows in
last week’s loss against the Colts. The Rams are a surprising 6-2 and lead the NFC
West behind the play of quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley and a
defense ranked ninth in scoring defense.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: State-ranked Clear Springs’ girls basketball team welcomes
Katy Seven Lakes for a 7:00pm contest.
The local sports scene starts early when Galveston Ball’s girls golf team welcomes
the rest of District 23-5A for a meet at the Moody Gardens Golf Course.
TUESDAY: Opening night of boys basketball season is a full slate, beginning with
Clear Brook at Humble, Deer Park at Clear Creek, Texas City at Clear Falls, Clear
Springs at Manvel, Galveston Ball at state-ranked Dickinson, Friendswood at Santa
Fe and state-ranked La Marque at Houston Kashmere each tipping off at 7:00pm.
Texas City opens its regular season at home against Clear Falls at 7:30pm.
In girls basketball action, Hitchcock begins the night with a 6:15pm tip at Sweeney,
while La Porte is at Clear Brook, followed by Fort Bend Elkins at Clear Creek, Pearland
at Clear Falls, Dickinson at C.E. King, Dawson at Galveston Ball, Santa Fe at
Pasadena and Texas City at Rosenberg Terry each starting at 7:00pm.
Texas City’s boys golf team will be the host for a varsity tournament held at Texas
City’s Bayou Golf Course, a meet that will see the rest of District 23-5A in action.
The Rockets will be the featured game on NBA TV when they welcome the Raptors to
Toyota Center for a 7:00pm tip. Houston will then hit the road for their two remaining
games this week, visiting the Suns on Thursday night before meeting the Grizzlies on
Saturday night.
