JANUARY ENDS WITH BUSY SPORTS SCHEDULE

THE LAST WEEK of January starts with a huge Tuesday of high school sports that
also includes the first softball scrimmages of the season.
TODAY, SUNDAY: The Rockets offer a local touch for the sports day when they host
the Suns at 2:30pm. Houston entered the weekend with a four-game win streak prior
to Friday’s game at New Orleans and remain entrenched as the second seed in the
Western Conference. The Rockets have won the two previous meetings against the
Suns, including a 112-95 victory at Toyota Center on January 12. NBA TV will air the
game along with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest, which starts coverage with their pregame
show at 2:00pm.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: La Marque will be among the host of junior high school
teams hitting the hardwood as they face rival Galveston Central. The seventh grade
teams play at La Marque at 5:00pm and 6:00pm, while the eighth grade squads are
in Galveston at 5:00pm and 6:00pm.
Texas City Blocker junior high’s seventh grade boys and girls teams will be in action
as they face Manvel junior high. The boys will play at home, while the girls will be on
the road. Both games will have a 5:00pm and 6:00pm start time.
TUESDAY: The first softball scrimmages of the season will have Bay City at Galveston
Ball and La Marque at Baytown Lee starting at 5:00pm. Texas City travels to
Brazoswood for a 6:00pm start.
In boys basketball, Clear Creek at Alvin, Clear Lake at Clear Falls, Clear Springs
at Dickinson, Shadow Creek at Galveston Ball and Galena Park at Santa Fe each
start at 7:00pm. Clear Brook at Friendswood, Houston Harmony at state-ranked La
Marque and Fort Bend Willowridge at Texas City will tip off at 7:30pm.
The girls basketball schedule starts at 6:15pm with Houston Harmony at La Marque.
Alvin at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Clear Lake, Dickinson at state-ranked Clear
Springs, Galveston Ball at Shadow Creek, Friendswood at Clear Brook, Santa Fe at
Galena Park and Texas City at Fort Bend Willowridge each begin at 7:00pm.
Boys soccer action begins at 7:00 with Galena Park at Texas City, while Clear Brook
at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Friendswood, Clear Lake at Dickinson and Clear
Springs at Alvin each start their matches at 7:30pm.
Texas City at Galena Park kicks off the girls soccer slate at 7:00pm. Clear Creek at
Clear Brook, Friendswood at Clear Falls, Dickinson at Clear Lake and Alvin at Clear
Springs will begin their respective matches at 7:30pm.
The Rockets will be at home for a 7:00pm date against the Magic. AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest will begin their coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm
