Bolivar: GOOD. 81 degrees. Fishing has been great this past week. Many reports of bull redfish, flounder, redfish, and jackfish. Most catches are coming with live finger mullet, fresh cut bait, or squid.

Trinity Bay: GOOD. 84 degrees. Birds are working in the back of the bay, but mostly undersized trout underneath them. A few reds are being caught by the HL&P spillway.

East Galveston Bay: FAIR. 81 degrees. Plenty of birds are working in the bay, with a few keeper trout underneath them. Some oversized redfish are schooled up in the open water. A few keeper reds and flounder are being taken in the shallow marsh.

Galveston Bay: GOOD. 81 degrees. Wells continue to be good for speckled trout and black drum. The protected areas of the bay are yielding a few trout and redfish. The coming cold front will make the open waters rough.

West Galveston Bay: GOOD. 81 degrees. Good speckled trout catches are coming from the protected areas of the bay. Redfish catches are fair. Birds are working in the back lakes, but many of the fish are undersized.

Texas City: GOOD. 81 degrees. The fishing report remains the same for those Texas slams, flounder, speckled trout, slot redfish, fish in the bay using artificials, and live shrimp.

Freeport: GOOD. 81 degrees. Flounder and redfish are following the shrimp migrating from the marshes into the back lake to the bay. Catching them on gulp shrimp under a popping cork. Sand trout and speckled trout are under the birds. Lots of small trout with a few keepers mixed in.

East Matagorda Bay: FAIR. 82 degrees. Wade fishing is dominant in the bay right now. Fishing remains excellent as the shrimp migrate out of the marsh. Chase the bird activity to find the fish. The surf is clear, with redfish schooling along the shoreline. There is an influx of large sand trout. Many reports of success in the mouth of the Colorado River.

West Matagorda Bay: FAIR. 82 degrees. Wade fishing is dominant in the bay right now. Fishing remains excellent as the shrimp migrate out of the marsh. Chase the bird activity to find the fish. The surf is clear, with redfish schooling along the shoreline. Scattered speckled trout in the bay.

Port O’Connor: GOOD. 82 degrees. Fishing is consistent with what we have been seeing recently. Bull redfish are biting on sardines and live piggy perch over by the jetty. They are coming to spawn, and their increased numbers have pushed trout into the bay system. Trout are slow. Black drum are good on dead shrimp. A few 5-20 pound tarpon are being caught using live croaker.
