On Wednesday, I spoke about making good deposits into our life bank. Continuing with that thought, have you made any decisions about what you want to see happen in your life for the new year? Many of us make new-year resolutions; some of us keep them and some start out strongly, only to abandon them at some point.
A new year is a good time to set and make new goals for our lives. They don’t have to be huge, hard-to-attain goals, nor do we need to set them in concrete. Often, when we do those things, we are paving the road to failure and disappointment. Choosing smaller desires for a shorter period of time instead can often lead us to success. When you reach each smaller goal, it’s then time to set a new one, with a well-deserved pat on the back.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor was excess weight gained overnight or strong muscles built in a week. Start small and build your goals as you go along. Celebrate your achievements and take pride in them, even if they are small ones. Give yourself the time and space to become stronger, more disciplined and dedicated to your plan.
All progress is good progress and any setbacks can be temporary. Deposit the good thoughts and patience that can lead you to your goals one small step at a time. You have an entire year to work on your end result and achieve it!

There’s an old folklore saying that implies that whatever you were doing at midnight on New Year’s Eve is what you will be doing a lot of in the coming year. I’ve always liked that idea and have tried to be doing something positive as I see the new year in. Recently, though, I had a thought today that I might have been approaching it the wrong way. Of all the things I’ve done, there is one I hadn’t tried – making a bank deposit! It was like a true epiphany to me!
We all want good things to happen and, while there are no guaranties that we will achieve that wish, what can it hurt to be doing something positive to start the year? So putting a night-drop deposit into my bank account might become my new tradition but what other things might we be depositing into our lives that would encourage positivity? It is certainly something to be thinking about.
Our lives are much like a bank account. We can deposit so many good things into them and, when needed, we can withdraw what is necessary to help meet either our own needs or another person’s. Make good, strong and rich deposits into your life bank. It will strengthen and support you when you need it the most. And don’t be surprised if you see me making a money deposit at my ATM at the stroke of midnight on future New Year’s Eves – I can use all the help I can get!

Welcome to the new year! Are you ready with your hopes, dreams, wishes, wants and any new-year resolutions you might want to make come true? Some of the most common are to eat better, lose weight, stop smoking and get in shape and exercise. Those are all good choices but there are other great desires to want to accomplish, so let’s look at it from another perspective. Even if you do accomplish those things, will they bring you true joy, peace or satisfaction at a heart-and-soul level?
I would like to add a few things to your list. Every morning when you wake up, meet the light with a pure joy and happiness for the opportunity to face another day no matter what it holds in store. Pursue peace each day in a world where it seems to be in short supply. Find ways to perform random acts of kindness and leave that trail like glitter, wherever your footsteps lead you.
Laugh about something every day. Remind yourself to take a break for the purpose of personal relaxation. Fully enjoy and engage in the simple things in life that bring happiness to your heart. If you first make 2017 a year to accomplish and fulfill your desire to lead a happier life from the inside out, some of the other resolutions you might desire to come to pass could be easier to accomplish.
Here’s wishing you all a happy, blessed, love-filled and heart-and-soul prospering year ahead!

I hope your Christmas was all that you dreamed and hoped it would be. It is such a beautiful and special way to see our year begin to draw to a close. We all love the time spent with people we love, going on a family adventure or journey to visit with our loved ones or taking a winter vacation and so much excitement and fun is usually had by both young and old.
Just as I wrote about carrying on our gratefulness long after the Thanksgiving holiday, so do we also need to continue on with the spirit of love that embodies our Christmas. The poor will still need our assistance in the coming months. A lot of children in our area go through birthdays without gifts, cakes or celebrations. The homeless will still need shelter, warm clothing and food and there will be no community feasts or outreaches for many of them.
How can you stay inspired to continue the spirit of Christmas throughout the year? Don’t let it expire when the tree comes down and the lights cease to twinkle. Make the decision now to keep Christmas constantly alive in your heart until it returns next December.

Merry Christmas! The magic of Christmas has arrived and all of the shopping and fighting the crowds, toy assembling, wrapping and hard work is done. It’s now time to get down to the essence of the spirit of Christmas – the love that fuels it all.
It is love that drives us to fulfill the Christmas wish lists. It’s love that warms our hearts, blazing hotter and brighter than any log on the fire, when we look at the excitement on our children’s faces or in our cherished one’s eyes when they open a gift bought to bring them joy.
It is love that has the prominent seat at our tables when
we gather round to share a meal together. It is pure love that allows us to honor and remember those we hold dear who are no longer in our physical presence but whose spirits draw us ever close in heart and memory.
It is all about the love, folks. More than any other holiday
we celebrate, even Valentine’s Day, this day, Christmas Day, brings the truest definition of love because, on this day, love was born and came to dwell among us.
It is because of this love that we celebrate our love for one another. More than anything I could hope, dream or wish for you, the greatest is and will always be love. Joy To The World.
