Marilyn Jewell took “a million hours” to create this stained-glass mosaic after her husband died but it must have been worth every minute as it won her the best-in-show award in College Of The Mainland’s 50 Plus program art exhibit.
“The time that went into this was a million hours,” she said. “It’s such a great hobby.”

She said life changed after her husband died three-and-a-half years ago but stained-glass art had filled the void.
“I don’t even get hungry when I’m working,” she said. “I love the artwork.”
The mosaic is part of an exhibition of other mosaics, paintings, drawings, photography and 3D art that will be on display at the COM art gallery in Texas City until August 20.
