Faith is the Key to your Success

By Terry Melancon

Every person living has what they believe to be the key to living a successful life. We have taken advice from leaders of the past to leaders of today. We look to those which we see and believe them to be wise according to the verbiage coming from their mouth.

There’s one step to 12 step programs and many success stories of people who appear to have made it. When people become successful we asked what you do to get where you are; from there we base everything in life trying to duplicate their actions.

When I was growing up as a kid my parents would say if Johnny jumped off a bridge, does that mean you have to jump to. What works for one doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for another. But what will work for everyone is faith but not just faith but faith in God. We can have faith in others, faith in gifts, talents and abilities but they all come from God.

Webster’s definition of faith: faith is confident belief in truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence; belief and trust in God

As humans we operate from of our five (5) senses, what we see, taste, touch, smell and feel. For instance when someone tells us something that requires using those senses and we can’t; there’s no evidence to prove what they said; we respond with I’ll believe it when I see it. Our belief system is based upon logic or reason, and a change in circumstances in most cases will cause us to change what we believe. Faith is not based upon logic or reason; faith on the other hand doesn’t have to see it to believe it and no matter how the circumstance may change faith stands pat.

Faith is simple even a child can work it; it’s not designed that you know how it works. We don’t understand all the intrigue details of what and how a television works. All you need is a desire to turn the thing on to operate it.

You may say that’s easy for you to say; you don’t know the problems I have or what I’m going through. I may not but God does and he’s no respecter of persons; God doesn’t make differences what he does for me he will do for you if you believe.

Everyday we’re faced with situations, problems and circumstances. Most of them seem overwhelming and as if there’s no way out or around it. If it’s not health issues, financial issues, trouble with our children moving in a direction of behaving out of control, to the automobile breaking down at the wrong time. We make statements from our mouths such as, it don’t look like I’m ever going to get ahead. No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to make enough money to pay my bills.

Once you get your words to line of with what God said, you’ll change your world. You have to change what you are saying, if what you’re saying is what you have, then change what you’re saying. Words are powerful; they can be negative or positive which can affect the outcome of life. Proverbs 6:2 you are trapped with the words of your mouth and have been caught by the words of your mouth. Your tongue is the most powerful weapon in life, it has the ability to create life or destroy even your destiny.  People are busy saying what they have and not what they want; change what you say and you’ll have what you want. Our faith has to be dominating and creative in our lives. Dominating to the point where what we say begins to change the outcome of what we see.

Faith has to be developed and it can only be developed through the word of God. When my son was born I would literally toss him high into the air and then catch him. He was terrified at first but after two or three times of catching him, his fear changed to excitement. He wanted me to do it again and again, why because his confidence began to grow when he heard me say I got you.

Faith is faith, but it doesn’t work without application. It’s you having a car sitting in your garage in perfect condition but without a battery. It will never run or move until a battery is installed. Well that’s what faith is, it’s the battery that starts your receiving what God has promised. You don’t have to see it to believe it just start it.

Proverbs 5: 20-22 my son attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart; for they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Joshua 1:8 this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou may observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

When you have been told that you have cancer, you can panic or you can pray. If you panic cancer becomes your giant but if you choose to say what God said. Psalm 107:20 He sent forth his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. Say what God has said; I’m the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, I’m blessed coming and I’m blessed going.

You say those things and it won’t be long before you understand Romans 10:8 but what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”. (That’s the word of faith)

Romans 10Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Hearing God’s word, believing God’s word and acting on God’s word will get you the victory every time.
