HALLOWEEN is over, Thanksgiving is approaching
and Christmas is right around the corner. However, there
are still a few weeks to go until both of these holidays,
which means that we need to find ways to enjoy the time
until those days come. Well, we’re in luck, because the
Bay Area Harbour Playhouse has a few exciting plays
and events for you to enjoy over the next few weeks!
The first play is “The Wizard of Oz” presented by the
students of the Playhouse’s Fine Arts Academy. On
Saturday November 11 and Saturday November 18,
guests of all ages can head over to the Playhouse—
located at 3803 Highway 3 in Dickinson—and enjoy the
play; which was adapted for the students by teacher and
actress, Whitney Wyatt. And the release, submitted to
The Post by Ann Leeman of the BAHP, said that “the
youngsters helped her (Wyatt) design costumes, props,
and sets during class time.”
The curtain opens at 3:00pm and the cost for attendance
is $3 for children, $5 for adults and $10 for a family pass.
The second play is “A Christmas Carol.” From
December 1st to December 17th, guests can enjoy Texas
community theater icon Bennie Nipper’s adaptation of
the beloved Charles Dickens story. Furthermore, according
to the press release submitted by Leeman, this year,
“Nipper has written in scenes for the award-winning Irish
Dancers from the Richard Tew Irish Dancing Academy,
and ballerinas from Classical Dance Arts in League City.”
The performances will take place on Thursdays,
Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and on Sundays at
2:30pm at the Downstairs Main Deck at the Bay Area
Harbour Playhouse. The cost for attendance starts at $12
and seniors, military, students and groups of ten or more
have the possibility of receiving discounts.
The last event is a fundraising gala put together by the
BAHP and the Dickinson chamber of commerce. The
gala—which is the second of its kind—will take place
on December 9 at 6:00pm at the Bay Area Harbour
Playhouse. According to the press release, “festivities
will include a presentation by the Dickinson Arts
Association, a catered dinner, and watching the performance
of “A Christmas Carol”, adapted and directed by
Bennie Nipper.” The fundraiser is being put on to help
support the Dickinson chamber, which lost everything
during Hurricane Harvey.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the office of
the Dickinson chamber, from members of the chamber,
at the theater between December 3 and December 5, or
online at Eventbrite. Tickets purchased in advance will
cost $30 and tickets purchased at the door will cost $35.
There is also a group pass for ten or more people available
at $10 each.
So there you have it! Although there are still a few
weeks until the holiday really kicks-off, you can start your
celebrations early by attending the fundraising gala and
viewing the two plays the Playhouse has to offer. If you
