YOUTH MOVEMENT HIGHLIGHTS AREA 23-5A VOLLEYBALL SQUAD HONOREES

DISTRICT 23-5A runners-up Santa Fe had a dominant
presence on the all-district team, with outside hitter Kylie
Verm earning offensive player of the year honors for her
efforts in helping the Indians finish with a 21-13 record
and a trip to the Class 5A, Region III quarterfinals.
Verm recorded a team-high 382 kills and finished with
a .225 hitting percentage. The junior also paced Santa
Fe with with a team-best 416 service receptions.
The Indians were represented on the first team by senior
outside hitter Tori Smith, sophomore setter Kassidy
Taves and sophomore
libero Elena Dondonay,
while sophomore middle
blocker Rachael Douglas
and senior middle blocker
Julia White were named
to the second team. Senior
outside hitter Breanne
Harris and sophomore
outside hitter Cassi Cruz
were selected as honorable
mention.
Texas City’s Ashlynn
Lewis was named to the
first team as the outside
hitter was one of two
Stingarees freshmen to
be honored. Freshman libero Macee Medina was chosen
to the second team with senior defensive specialist
Ashleigh Rivas and freshman outside hitter Haley James
were honorable mention selections.
Galveston Ball’s representatives on the all-district
team were sophomore setter Logan Kelly (first team),
sophomore libero Caroline Baze, senior middle blocker
Laura Mifflin (second team) and senior outside hitters
Lexie Koehler and Kaila Lee.
