Death is an uncomfortable subject for most people,
so it takes special people to work in the funeral business.
Michael and Rusty Carnes, owners of the
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home located on Galveston
Island, have been serving families since opening their
doors in 1990. One of the largest funeral homes in all
of Galveston County, they and their youngest brother
Jay & his business activities, they issue more death
certificates in the State of Texas than any other funeral
home. Through Michael’s calling at a very young age,
the Carnes brothers have always viewed their business
as a unique and important way to minister to families at
their most vulnerable. Rusty’s goal has always been to
ensure they always bring Galveston County residents
a first class experience in honoring their loved ones
through their gracious and beautiful facility and touching,
memorable services.
Both men are family men. Michael has five children
and his oldest daughter Jillian is graduating from Thurgood
Marshall School of Law with a degree in Juris
Doctor. Rusty has two children; Ashley, a Baylor alumni
and Speech Therapist at UTMB, and Franklin IV, who
is President at Galveston Limousine Service. Both
are active in the First Baptist Church and during their
careers have been active with the Rotary, Gideon’s
International, Optimist Club and Galveston County Jail
Ministry. Rusty appeared on CNN during the inauguration
of President Trump and has been a guest on the
Erica Hill show on Headline News (HLN). These are
special people with a special mission.
The Carnes Brother funeral home sets itself apart
with its Foreign Shipping expertise. They have shipped
departed love ones all over the world from South
America to the Philippines from Eastern Europe to
Mexico. Also, the Carnes Brothers has the only 1860
horse drawn carriage that is available for families along
with their burial at sea funeral services. The staff consists
of wonderful caring people who have been serving
generations of families in their time of need. Their
facility is beautifully decorated with a large chapel
that can accommodate over four hundred people. The
Carnes Brothers are focused on every detail to make
every funeral a remembrance that will bring peace and
closure to a life well lived. For more information please
