Tourney time fills baseball, softball schedules

Wednesday: Both the girls’ basketball teams of Clear Creek and Friendswood continue their playoff journey, as Creek takes on Summer Creek at North Shore High School in a 6A, Region III quarterfinal at 6:00pm, the same time Friendswood collides with Foster at Shadow Creek High School in a 5A, Region III quarterfinal.

The Rockets begin a brief two-game road trip with a visit to the Cavaliers beginning at 6:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.

Thursday: Baseball tourney time begins, as Texas City hosts its annual Oldest Tournament in Texas, a star-studded event that will also include Dickinson. Meanwhile, Clear Brook and Clear Creek will be at the La Porte Tournament, while Galveston Ball hosts the Sandbar Tournament that will also feature Clear Creek. Clear Falls and Friendswood will take part in the Pearland Tournament, with Hitchcock hosting its annual tourney that includes La Marque. A host of teams will flock to Santa Fe, where the Indians will host its SFISD Tournament. 

There’s also a host of softball tournaments, with each of the CCISD schools — along with state-ranked Dickinson and Galveston Ball — hosts its annual CCISD Tournament. Texas City will be part of the Thursday/Saturday Pearland Tournament.

In track and field, Clear Brook hosts its Winter Invitational 2 that will also include Friendswood. Clear Creek is at the St. Thomas Invitational

There are three high school soccer matches, with Hargrave-Huffman at La Marque (girls’) starting at 5:00pm, with Friendswood at Galveston Ball (girls’) at 6:00pm. The one boys’ match will have Hargrave-Huffman at La Marque at 7:30pm.

Friday: In boys’ soccer, Clear Creek at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Clear Springs, Dickinson at Manvel, Dickinson at Brazoswood, La Porte at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Manvel, East Chambers at La Marque and Texas City at Baytown Sterling each begin at 7:30pm.

The girls’ soccer slate will have East Chambers at La Marque starting at 5:30pm, followed by Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls, Brazoswood at Dickinson, Friendswood at La Porte, Manvel at Galveston Ball and Baytown Sterling at Texas City each beginning at 7:30pm.

The high school softball schedule will have Tidehaven at Hitchcock and La Marque at Ganado starting at 5:00pm. Galveston Ball at Friendswood and Texas City at Baytown Lee each start at 6:30pm.

The track and field schedule will have Clear Falls at the CE King Invitational and Clear Springs among the schools at the Fort Bend Hightower Tournament.

Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs are among the tennis teams taking part in the La Porte Invitational, which begins at 6:30am.

The Rockets head down to Florida to take on the homeless Raptors beginning at 6:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have the pregame show beginning at 6:0pm.

Saturday: Dickinson and Texas City will be among the boys’ powerlifting teams that will take part in the Last Chance Meet at Dickinson High School beginning at 8:00am.
