The start of the 2021-22 high school sports schedule lifts its lid with tennis on Thursday before a weekend of volleyball scrimmages tips off on Friday. There’s also the Astros, who return from the west coast to begin a weekend set against the Twins.
Wednesday: The Astros conclude their two-game set at the Dodgers, which also includes the end of their 10-game road trip. Gametime is scheduled for 8:40pm, with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starting its coverage with the pregame show at 8:00pm. The game also marks the first start for newly-acquired Dodgers hurler Max Scherzer, who helped deny the Astros a second World Series when he led the Nationals to the 2019 World Series crown.
Thursday: The first regular season sports event of the 2021-22 high school sports season begins in Texas City, as the Stingarees’ tennis team welcomes Dayton for a 4:00pm event at the TCISD Tennis Courts.
No rest for the weary, as the Astros begin a weekend set against the visiting Twins. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 6:30pm, with gametime set for 7:10pm.
Friday: Area high school volleyball teams begin their scrimmage schedules that will lead into next week’s regular season opener. Among the teams in action will be Dickinson at Santa Fe at 8:30am, followed by La Marque at Houston Milby at 10:00am. Texas City will host a tri-scrimmage with Splendora and Shadow Creek at 4:30pm.

Saturday: The high school volleyball scrimmage schedule will see Dickinson at Baytown Sterling, Galveston Ball at Pasadena at 9:00am, and Texas City at Clear Falls at 9:00am.
