Sabine Lake: GOOD. 81 degrees. Recent rains improved the water system by congregating the fish. ICW is producing good catches of trout and redfish on rock piles using live shrimp under a popping cork, and 1/16th ounce jigs with five inch plastics in morning glory chartreuse, Texas roach or red shad. Night fishing at Texaco Island is good free-lining croaker, shrimp and mullet. Taylor’s Bayou is holding redfish. Sabine Pass Channel is good for redfish and trout in the bulkheads in 12 feet of water using Texas roach 1/16 ounce jig heads. Glo chartreuse gulp will land you flounder. Jetties are holding beautiful trout limits with an early morning topwater bite, live shrimp under a popping cork or five inch glo chartreuse �¼ ounce jig head, and silver or white swimbaits or rattletraps. Sabine Lake is good for trout mid lake under the birds, off rocks near the south levy, and under birds feeding on shrimp near the north levy. Redfish are good in 20 feet of water near Pleasure Island Point to the river using gold and silver spoons. Sheepshead and drum are good off the points. Bolivar: GOOD. 82 degrees. Grass line between Pepper Grove and Sievers Cove is holding redfish biting on live shrimp under a popping cork, Haymaker fight club shrimp. Jetties holding bull redfish in the channel. On the outside of the jetties near the rocks redfish, trout, and sheepshead are biting live shrimp under a popping cork, and free-lining shrimp or croaker. Trinity Bay: GOOD. 88 degrees. HL&P Spillway holding a few speckled trout, but mainly redfish. When water conditions allow, the gas wells in the open bay holding speckled trout. Shell reefs along the ship channel near marker 72 have been good for speckled trout using a variety of soft plastic lures and live natural baits. Galveston Bay: GOOD. 86 degrees. Galveston Bay is holding trout around rocks off channel marker 64-70. Look for birds, bait and slicks to find the fish. Campbell’s Reef holding some trout and redfish under the birds and the man made rock shoals biting on live shrimp under a popping cork. The surf is on fire with the clear water moving in and wind relaxing. Success free-lining live shrimp, croaker, pinfish, mullet, and pogies. West Galveston Bay: GOOD. 89 degrees. Decent numbers of speckled trout are in the guts of San Luis Pass biting on live croaker. Anglers drifting the deep shell reefs in the open bay with live croakers are catching good numbers of trout. Texas City: GOOD. 86 degrees. Moses lake is holding trout and redfish early in the day under birds biting soft plastics and live shrimp under popping corks. Gas wells in front of Top Water holding trout from Dollar Point to Eagle Point drifting soft plastics. Look for birds, slicks, and restless bait to lead you to fish. Freeport: GOOD. 85 degrees. Redfish, trout, and flounder are good in the river free-lining live shrimp, down south lures, or new penny gulp shrimp. The river is producing big drums. West Matagorda Bay: GOOD. 85 degrees. Redfish and undersized trout are good wading with artificials. The Colorado is fishing good for redfish up river with live shrimp under a popping cork. Port O’Connor: GOOD. 90 degrees. Speckled trout are good on live croaker in the jetties and surf early in the morning. Redfish are good on dead shrimp and sardines at the end of the jetties. Rockport: GREAT. 86 degrees. Waders are finding success on trout and redfish in the early morning on live bait and plastics. Redfish are great in the shoreline out to two feet of water, follow the birds and bait fish to locate big schools. Trout continue to be great in 2-6 feet of water using soft plastics and croaker.
