The simple activity of walking has many powerful health benefits. From bone health to heart health and even mental health, taking a walk is a great way to stay healthy and active. The holiday season is here, and while driving around to look at Christmas lights is always fun, taking a walk through some of the area’s festival of lights is an alternative way to enjoy the holiday scenery and get your steps at the same time. Listed are a few of the light displays you can spend hours walking through taking in the sights of the season.
Dickinson Festival of Light — This one is first on the list for a few reasons. Paul Hopkins Park in Dickinson is transformed into a beautiful display of lights and offers concessions as well as photo ops with Santa. The best part however is that entrance and parking is free!
Moody Gardens — The Festival of Lights at Moody Garden is always a sight to see. Tickets are $25 but also includes a train ride, Arctic slide and ice skating.
Lights over Lago Mar — Open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday in December, Lago Mar transforms into a winter wonderland. Tickets are $15 to enjoy the light display along with concessions and a holiday market to walk around putting you in the Christmas spirit.
Walking though some of the beautiful light displays in the area is just one of the fun ways you can stay active and enjoy this season. When you add the element of Christmas lights to your surroundings, getting your steps in feels like less of a chore and becomes more of an experience, along with something the whole family can enjoy to stay active and make great memories.

How is this woman Samantha Copeland still writing for this paper?! Have you not investigated her background? I have been a long time resident of Texas City, and have witnessed her deceit. She is a complete fraud! She even claims to be a psychic. She does not run her own business. There is no Yoga on 6th. Look it up! She has even been investigated by the state of Texas for her inappropriate massage services. She is a liability waiting to happen. Please get legitimate writers!
