Another blistering hot weekend will be matched by a hot weekend of volleyball and high school football scrimmages. There’s also the Astros looking to move closer in the American League West division race when the Mariners come to town along with a pair of preseason football games between the Texans and Cowboys.
Wednesday: The Astros conclude their brief trip to south Florida with a 5:40pm matchup at the Marlins. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will air coverage beginning with the pregame show at 5:00pm.
Thursday: A busy weekend of volleyball starts with Dickinson hosting its annual tournament that will also include Clear Brook and Santa Fe. Meanwhile, Clear Creek is at the annual Fraulein Tournament in New Braunfels and Clear Falls at the Spring Tourney. La Marque and Texas City will each compete in the Big Mac Attack Tournament in Aldine.
The final week of high school football scrimmages begins with Clear Springs at Fort Bend Hightower at 6:00pm, followed by Dickinson at Katy Seven Lakes and Richmond Randle at Texas City at 7:00pm and La Marque at Baytown Lee at 7:30pm. Clear Falls at Mayde Creek had not announced a start time as of Monday.
Friday: The volleyball slate will have Hitchcock at Stafford at 4:30pm, with Clear Falls at Tompkins and Clear Springs at Stratford at 5:30pm. Santa Fe at Clear Lake starts at 6:30pm.
There are two high school football scrimmages as Friendswood visits Dawson at 6:00pm, and Manvel at Clear Creek at 7:00pm.
In cross country, La Marque and Texas City will be among the teams participating in the Knight Invitational, hosted by Clear Falls. The meet will be held at Hometown Heroes Park in League City at 11:00am.
The Astros will look to put distance between themselves and the Mariners during the first of a three-game set at Minute Maid Park at 7:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will air coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Saturday: The Texans host the Dolphins in their only preseason game at Reliant Stadium starting at 3:00pm. KTRK13 will have the game live.
Cowboys fans can flip to NFL Network for their team’s 9:00pm kickoff at the Seahawks.
The Astros face the Mariners at 6:10pm, with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starting pregame coverage at 5:30pm.
