MEMORIAL DAY LAUNCHES the star of the annual CCA STAR Fishing Tournament.

Although the event officially started on Saturday, Memorial Day is usually

the first day of extensive fishing across 200 miles of the waters of Texas and

Louisiana along with the extension of Texas borders.

The highlight of the 100-day event, which concludes on Labor Day, will be the

search for 60 tagged redfish as the first five tagged and certified will lead to those

anglers winning a 2018 Ford F150 Texas Edition XLT SuperCab that will be connected

to a Haynie 23 Bigfoot with a Mercury L Pro XS OptiMax and Coastline Trailer.

The next five winners will receive a Haynie 23 Bigfoot with a Mercury 150 L Pro

XS OptiMax and Coastline Trailer.

Well over $2 million in prizes and scholarships will be given in the following divisions:

Offshore Division: Kingfish, Dorado, Ling.

Inshore Division: Flounder, Sheepshead, Gafftop

Trout Division: Upper Coast, Middle Coast, Lower Coast

STAR Kids Division: Ages 6-10.

STAR Teen Division: Ages 11-17

Regular Division: For those who currently have a CCA membership

Last year saw CCA star hand out nine of their top 10 prizes, including all five

grand prizes. The winners of this year’s tournament will receive their prize during

a tournament celebration in October.
