Area’s State-Ranked Football Teams in Action on Friday

Each of the area’s three state-ranked high school football teams will be in action this weekend, as Hitchcock and La Marque will be at home, while Dickinson will be on the road. The weekend also has a slate of high school volleyball play as the regular season winds down.

Wednesday: College football starts early this week as Texas-El Paso takes on Sam Houston State at Houston’s Shell Stadium at 6 PM (CBS Sports Network).

Thursday: Clear Creek at Clear Brook (Challenger-Columbia) opens the high school football weekend at 6 PM.

The Rockets close out their preseason schedule at the Hawks, beginning at 6:30 PM. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6 PM with the pregame show. The game will also be televised on ESPN2. 

Friday: High school football begins at 7 PM with Clear Falls at Clear Springs (Challenger-Columbia), state-ranked Dickinson at Brazoswood, Pasadena at Friendswood, Hempstead at state-ranked Hitchcock, Royal at state-ranked La Marque, and Texas City at Friendswood (Victory Sports Net). 

Meanwhile, the high school volleyball schedule begins at 4:30 PM with East Bernard at Hitchcock and La Marque at Bay City. Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls, and Dickinson at Brazoswood start at 6 PM.

Saturday: College football begins with Arizona at Houston (FS1) at 11 AM, followed by Prairie View at Southern and Virginia-Lynchburg at Texas Southern at 2 PM and #4 Texas A&M at Arkansas (ESPN) at 2:30 PM. UT-Rio Grande at Lamar (ESPN+) is at 3 PM, while #21 Texas at Kentucky (ESPN), Houston Christian at McNeese (ESPN+), and Nicholls at Stephen F. Austin (ESPN+) start at 6 PM.
