On Feb. 3-4, both the Friendswood High School Girls and Boys Swim Teams claimed the Region V-5A Championship titles. Thirty FHS swimmers competed against swimmers from 23 Region schools. The top two places from the Regional Championship automatically advanced to the State Championship on February 17-18 at The University of Texas in Austin.
Friendswood has 11 athletes heading to State.
The 10 swimmers and 1 diver advancing to the State Championship either in relays and/or individual events are Peyton Becker, Edi Jakob, Andi Jeanes, KK LeBlanc, Paige McCray, Lauren Tillman, Nick Hardt, Tony Laurito, Marshall Odom, Talon Welch, and Grayson Wells for Diving. In each event, after all eight Regional meets are complete, the UIL “Calls Up” the next fastest times from around the state in which some additional FHS swimmers might qualify. Due to weather delays in some regions, the Call-Ups will not be available until February 8.

Both KK and Tony were also named Regional Swimmers of the Meet. Coach Sikkema was voted as the Regional Girls Swim Coach.
