Both baseball and softball will be filled with tournaments over the weekend, with Texas City hosting one of the longest-running tourneys in the nation, while CCISD hosts its annual softball event

Wednesday: No varsity sporting events on the schedule.

Thursday: Texas City hosts “The Oldest Tournament in Texas” as the 67th edition gets underway with Dickinson, Fort Bend Elkins and Lutheran South competing in the three-day event.

Hitchcock hosts its annual Bulldog Tournament that includes La Marque, while Clear Brook and Clear Springs are among those teams in the La Porte Tournament. Galveston Ball plays hosts to its Sandbar Invitational that will include Clear Creek. Clear Falls and state-ranked Friendswood will be among the teams at the Pearland Tournament. 

Most of the area’s softball teams will be taking part at the CCISD Tournament, with each of the district’s five schools being joined by Galveston Ball and Texas City. State-ranked Santa Fe hosts its Haynie Tournament, while Hitchcock will compete in the Palacios Tourname.

The track and field scene is busy as Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs are each at the Shadow Creek/Manvel Invitational, while Clear Creek is at the Maverick Stampede.

Dickinson hosts the Last Chance Meet as the Gators welcome La Marque, Santa Fe and Texas City among the powerlifters looking to gain a spot into the regional tournament next month.

Friday: The boys’ soccer schedule will have Brazoswood at Clear Brook, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Clear Springs, Galveston Ball at Texas City and Angleton at Santa Fe each starting at 7:30pm.

On the girls’ soccer side of things, Clear Brook at Brazoswood, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Clear Springs at Clear Falls and Texas City at Galveston Ball each start at 7:30pm.

In softball, Hitchcock takes a day from the Palacios Tournament to visit Brazosport at 5:00pm.

The Rockets return from the All-Star break with a visit to the defending NBA champion Warriors beginning at 8:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts the pregame coverage at 7:30pm.

Saturday: La Marque hosts Stafford in soccer. The girls begin at 10:00am, while the boys start at 12:00pm.
