With May approaching, the local sports schedule begins to wind down with high school baseball and softball playoffs ongoing and the Astros being the one constant to the schedule. We’ve gone accustomed to this, so embrace the lighter (and lighter) OTF slate.
Sunday: The Astros close out their series against the Rockies in Mexico City with a 3:05 pm start time. The game gets national exposure as it will be televised on ESPN.
Monday: Clear Creek’s boys golf team will be among those competing for the 6A state championship, which will be held at Legacy Hills Course in Georgetown. The final round will conclude on Tuesday.
Tuesday: Future golf talent from Friendswood, Galveston Ball, Santa Fe and Texas City will take part in the District 18-5A freshman tournament at the Friendswood High School courts.
The Astros return home to Minute Maid Park as they welcome the Guardians for a 7:10 pm start. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6:30 pm with the pregame show.
