Soccer Season Kicks Its Way Into the Schedule

A clear sign of how fast the year has flown: high school soccer begins the 2024-25 season with a host of scrimmages on Friday and Saturday. The regular season is just three weeks away. 

Wednesday: Boys’ hoops on Hump Day as Clear Creek visits state-ranked Friendswood at 7 PM.

The Rockets host the Warriors at 8:30 PM. Space City Home Network begins the pregame show at 8 PM. The game will also be aired nationally on TNT.

Thursday: Boys’ basketball tournament play will see Clear Falls at the Gregory-Portland Tournament, while Dickinson competes in the Cy Hoops Invitational. State-ranked La Marque is at the Orangefield Tournament, while Santa Fe is at the Splendora Tournament.

La Marque is the only girls’ basketball team in tourney play. The Cougars are in the women’s bracket of the Orangefield Tournament.

Friday: Girls basketball begins at 4:30 PM with Texas City at La Porte, followed at 6 PM by Ball at Iowa Colony and Columbia at La Marque. State-ranked Clear Brook at Dickinson, Clear Creek at Deer Park, Clear Falls at Brazoswood, Clear Lake at Clear Springs, and Santa Fe at Angleton start at 7 PM.

Meanwhile, the boys’ basketball slate will have George Ranch at Clear Brook at 7 PM.

Scrimmage time for boys’ soccer is here. La Marque at Palacios is at 5:30 PM, while Ball at Strake Jesuit, Dickinson at Santa Fe, and Barbers Hill at Texas City start at 7 PM. Pearland at Clear Creek and Elkins at Clear Springs are 7:30 PM starts, while Westside at Clear Brook begins at 7:45 PM.

Girls’ soccer scrimmages also begin as Sweeny at Texas City start at 5 PM. Clear Falls hosts a tri-scrimmage against New Caney and West Fork at 7 PM, with Pasadena at Ball, Clear Springs at Friendswood, and Shadow Creek at Dickinson starting at 7:30 PM.

Saturday: Clear Creek’s girls’ soccer team hosts Dawson and Santa Fe with matches starting at 8 AM, 10 AM, and noon.

Texas City’s boys’ soccer team hosts its annual alumni match at 4 PM.
