There’s a lot for local sports fans to digest, headlined by the annual Dickinson Varsity Volleyball Tournament. A number of area football teams will play their final scrimmage prior to next week’s regular season opener, while the Astros, Dynamo, and Texans will each be in action on Saturday.
Wednesday: The Astros will have an early start as they visit the Tigers at 12:10 PM. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 11:30 AM with the pregame show. The game will also be aired on MLB Network.
Thursday: The high school football scrimmage schedule starts with Clear Falls at Pearland and Friendswood at Dawson at 6:30 PM, followed by Ball at Santa Fe, Manvel at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Fort Bend Hightower, Hitchcock at Sweeny, La Marque at West Fork, and Brazosport at Texas City at 7 PM.
In volleyball, Dickinson hosts its annual varsity tournament that includes Ball, Clear Brook, Clear Falls, Brazoswood, and Santa Fe. Meanwhile, Clear Creek is at New Braunfels at the Frauleinfest Tournament, Hitchcock at the Tidehaven Tournament, while La Marque and Texas City are at the Aldine Tournament.
The Astros open a series at the Orioles at 6:15 PM. The game will be nationally televised on KRIV26.
Friday: A number of volleyball teams will be in action in between tournament play, as Ball at Fort Bend Bush and Clear Brook at Bellaire start at 5:30 PM, while Clear Lake at Santa Fe and Friendswood at Clear Falls start at 6:30 PM.
The tennis schedule has Clear Springs at Dobie and Dickinson at Baytown Lee at 3 PM, while Kingwood at Clear Creek and Shadow Creek at Friendswood start at 4 PM.
The Cowboys host the Falcons in their preseason finale at 7 PM. The game will be aired on NFL Network.
