The Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Airport will be Merry and Bright with great events and Joyful activities for kids of all ages on Saturday, 12/13:
Stearman Santa – Santa arrives in a World War II open cockpit Stearman biplane. 10 am to 1 pm
Watch Santa taxi in on a vintage open-cockpit biplane LIVE, followed by photos, activities and more!
Activities Include:
- Storytime with Mrs. Claus: Cozy up for Christmas tales and sweet holiday cheer with Mrs. Claus herself.
- Ornament Hover Challenge: Can your ornament take flight? Explore the Bernoulli Principle and see how air keeps things soaring.
- Reindeer Rocket Launch: Design and decorate your own reindeer rocket, then stomp to launch it sky-high across the Arrival Hall!
- Light It Up Lab: Power a glowing reindeer nose or build a torch to help Santa find his way using Little Bits Circuits.
- Santa’s Navigation Station: Craft your own compass to help guide Santa straight to your house on Christmas Eve.

The Cessna 310 was the second twin-engined aircraft that Cessna produced following the Cessna T-50 “Bobcat”. This specific aircraft was once owned by former NASA Astronaut and long standing TAHOF member, James Lovell. Captain Lovell, U.S. Navy (Ret.) had an amazing career as a test pilot. He was the program manager for the F-4 Phantom, and flew on Gemini &, Gemini 12, Apollo 8, and Apollo 13.
WINGS Speaker Series: Amaryllis Cotto – Hurricane Hunter & NWS Forecaster in Houston – 11:30 am Be inspired by women in aviation and STEM sharing their journeys in their fields of expertise and addressing the importance of innovation, curiosity, and perseverance. This interview-style program between the expert(s) and moderator encourages audience engagement. Young women and girls interested in aviation and STEM are encouraged to attend to soak up the wisdom shared by the trailblazing women who came before. Free with museum admission and open to all audiences.
