Astros bring pair of aces in final ‘stand before break

THE ASTROS COMPLETE the first half of the regular season while the Dynamo stay busy with a pair of matches to complete the first full week of July.
Wednesday: Wade Miley (6-4, 3.30 ERA) gets the nod for the Astros in the conclusion of a brief two-game set at the Rockies. Colorado will hand the ball to rookie Peter Lambert, who has a 2-0 record despite an ERA of 6.57. Lambert could also be extended batting practice, as he allowed four homers in 4.2 innings in his previous start against the Dodgers on Thursday. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will start its pregame show at 6:30pm that will lead into the first pitch at 7:10pm.
The Dynamo will host the Red Bulls of New York at BBVA Stadium beginning at 8:00pm. KUBE-57 will have live coverage of the match.
Thursday: Celebrate your nation’s birthday by picking up “The Bible of Texas Football,” as the annual Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine will be available. Get the inside scoop on all things Texas football from six-man to the Texans and Cowboys. It will make for great reading
while waiting on the fireworks at sundown.
Friday: All-Star Justin Verlander (10-3, 2.86 ERA) makes his final start of the season’s first half of play as the Astros host the Angels beginning at 7:10pm. Los Angeles counters with lefty Andrew Heaney (1-2, 5.40 ERA) as AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show. Those in attendance should stick around after the game for a special Friday Night Fireworks show that will have an Americana-themed playlist.
Saturday: The Astros will give the ball to All-Star Gerrit Cole (8-5, 3.28 ERA) in a regionally-televised game against the Angels at 6:15pm. Los Angeles opened the week uncertain about who would get the starting nod. Fox26 will have the game live. The first 15,000 fans in attendance will get a Gerrit ‘Cole Train’ pitching bobblehead presented by Nolan Ryan Beef.
It’s a Houston twin-bill as the Dynamo visit FC Cincinnati at a match that begins at 6:30pm.
