(August 24, 2022) The president/CEO of the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce, Page Michel, announced her resignation Monday in a letter to Chamber executive officers.
The organization’s officers formally accepted her resignation and began the work of forming a task force to determine next steps for the chamber. Michel’s last day will be September 15.
“It has been a great honor to work for the Texas City-La Marque Chamber, to oversee the success of the staff and help shape the future of the organization. I’m proud that we have met and exceeded all budget and program goals during my two years as president,” Michel said in her letter. “I’m moving to be closer to family. It is a bittersweet announcement, because I have grown to love this community and all the wonderful people I’ve had the privilege to work with here.”
Michel started at the Chamber in July 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. She followed the previous president Jenny Senter’s lengthy tenure of 29 years at the Chamber. Michel is leaving to take over the president/CEO position at the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce.
Michel recruited and trained five new employees while at the helm of the Chamber: Stefanie Aldrich, Lauren Kaiser, Marielle Gomez, Jordan Kleinecke and a new hire Bianca Jenson. Kleinecke recently moved to work for another company. Michel stated, “Each of these staff members are leaders and innovators. They are primed to make significant strides for the chamber in the coming years to help grow local businesses.”
Starting on September 1, Jenny Senter will be acting as Interim President for the Texas City-La Marque Chamber as the Executive Board Search Committee begins the candidate selection for a new Chamber President.
