Texas City Police Arrest Two in Major Copper Theft

On Wednesday, October 15, the Texas City Police Department responded to a call for service
regarding a burglary and theft of copper wire at the FM 2004 Emergency Backup Well Site, located in
the 3900 block of FM 2004 in Texas City.
During the investigation, two suspects, David Knight Haney and Brent John Wentland, were
identified and, subsequently, arrested on warrants for Theft of Property >$150,000<$300,000 and Damaging Critical Infrastructure Facility >$100,000.

David Haney, Critical Infrastructure – No Bond, Theft of Property – No Bond. Brent Wetland, Critical Infrastructure bond: $200,000, Theft of Property bond: $150,000, Poss. Controlled Substance bond: $20,000.
