TEXAS CITY, TX – Texas City’s interim City Hall has officially opened at 2000 Texas Avenue.
All city services that were housed at the old City Hall on 9th Avenue have now moved and
are fully operational at the new, temporary location.
Departments that moved include Water Billing, City Secretary, Human Resources, Mayor &
Commissioners’ Offices, Finance and Legal.
Note that while in-person payments for water bills will be made at the new location, all
other payment methods – including the drop-box at Moore Memorial Public Library, retail
locations, online payments, text payments, etc. – will remain unchanged and available.
City Commission meetings will also move to a temporary new location.
Starting with the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, City Commission meetings
will be held at 2010 5th Avenue N., in either the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center or the
Alamo Room of the Nessler Center. Residents are encouraged to check the agenda before
each meeting to confirm the meeting’s location.
The moves of the departments and meetings are temporary; a new Municipal Complex will
be built at the existing City Hall site (1801 9th Avenue), replacing the 71-year-old building.
When the Municipal Complex opens, it will house more City departments under one roof,
with the goal of making City services easier and more convenient for residents to utilize.
The new complex will also include a new, expanded Municipal Court, a larger Commission
Chambers and a bigger dispatch center.
In addition, there will be an Emergency Operations Center that is rated for a Category 5
storm, helping to ensure that in that in times of crisis, first responders will be better
equipped to provide support and services when residents need them most.
