Late February means the start of baseball and softball season, which means tournament play will be dominant over the weekend. The CCISD Tournament will have nine of the area’s softball teams in action while Friendswood joins Dickinson and Texas City in a very competitive field at the Pearland First Pitch Tournament.
Wednesday: Nothing on the schedule.
Thursday: The bulk of area softball teams are at the CCISD Tournament, where Dickinson, Friendswood, Galveston Ball and Texas City join each of the five CCISD schools along with a host of others competing in the three-day event. Meanwhile, La Marque is at the Galena Park Tournament.
The baseball tournament schedule will have Clear Brook and Clear Springs at the La Porte Tournament, while Clear Creek takes part in Galveston Ball’s annual Sandbar Invitational. Dickinson, state-ranked Friendswood and Texas City are at the Pearland First Pitch Tournament. La Marque takes part in the Van Vleck Varsity Tournament while Santa Fe plays host to their annual tourney.
In track and field, Clear Brook and Clear Falls are at the Shadow Creek-Manvel Relays. Santa Fe is at the Pasadena Memorial Relays.
The Rockets return from the All-Star Break with a trip to New Orleans to face off against the Pelicans at 7:00pm. Space City Home Network begins coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
Friday: Track and field highlights the day as Clear Springs at the Cy Fair ISD Relays, with Friendswood at the MUD Relays in Pasadena. La Marque travels to Bay City for the Blackcat Relays, while Texas City competes in the Sam Mosley Relays in Humble.
In boys soccer, Clear Lake at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Dickinson, Brazoswood at Clear Springs, Santa Fe at Angleton and Texas City at Galveston Ball each start at 7:30pm.
The girls soccer schedule also begins at 7:30pm with Clear Brook at Clear Lake, Dickinson at Clear Falls, Clear Springs at Brazoswood, Galveston Ball at Texas City and Angleton at Santa Fe.
Texas City’s tennis team is at Baytown beginning at 8:00pm, while Friendswood will be part of the CCISD Tournament that will be held at Clear Falls.
Hitchcock opens their baseball season by hosting the Andre Derouen Jr. Bash that concludes on Saturday.
The Rockets host the Suns in their first post-All-Star Game at Toyota Center. Space City Sports Network begins coverage at 6:30pm before leading into the game at 7:30pm.
Saturday: La Marque’s soccer teams travel to Stafford. The girls begin at 10:00am while the boys hit the pitch at 12:00pm.
Clear Creek and Dickinson are among the schools participating in the Humble Relays.
Ranked second in the nation as of Monday, Houston will host 11th-ranked Baylor at 11:00am. The game can be seen nationally on KHOU11.
