GIRLS HOOPS START DISTRICT PLAY

TODAY, SUNDAY: Two teams playing out the string meet at NRG Stadium as the 4-8
Texans meet the 2-10 49ers starting at noon. While Houston remains mathematically
alive for a playoff berth, last week’s loss at the Titans all but sealed their fate of missing
the postseason. San Francisco, meanwhile, appears heading for another draft
with a high first round pick, but unlike the Texans, the Niners will actually have their
selection. Keep in mind that moving Brock Osweiler and trading for Deshaun Watson
cost Houston their first two picks, which should deter the team from hosting a draft
party when they won’t pick until the third round. KHOU-11 will air the game live.
TOMORROW, MONDAY: There is one high school basketball game on the schedule,
as Pasadena Memorial visits Clear Springs at 7:00pm. There is also pro hoops
when the Rockets return from a three-game swing on the west coast and welcome
the Pelicans at Toyota Center for a 7:00pm start. It is the first meeting between the
two teams this season and will be the first of a season-long stretch of seven straight
home games between now and December 22. AT&T Sportsnet will start its coverage
with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
TUESDAY: Girls basketball district play is the highlight, as 24-3A starts with state
ranked Hitchcock hosting East Bernard at 6:15pm. 24-6A begins its season with Alvin
at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Dickinson at Clear Falls and Clear Springs
at Friendswood each starting at 7:00pm. District 23-5A girls action will have Galveston
Ball at Santa Fe beginning at 7:00pm.
In boys hoops, Santa Fe is at Galveston Ball at 7:00pm in a 23-5A contest, while in
non-district play, state ranked Dickinson is at Summer Creek and Friendswood at
Pasadena Memorial each starting at 7:00pm. Navasota is at Hitchcock starting at
7:30pm.
