Providing resources toward improving the care and welfare of children in Galveston County with special emphasis on preventing child abuse and neglect.
In 2017, 746 children in Galveston County were the victims of child abuse or neglect.  April is Child Abuse Awareness month, and the Galveston County Children’s Services Board is charged with increasing awareness of child abuse. As a board, we would like to bring together community members to highlight this sad fact in an effort to raise awareness. The community, as a whole, should be charged with recognizing the signs of child abuse and reporting when necessary. We also want to recognize programs that work tirelessly to support families to prevent child abuse and neglect from ever occurring. Please join us to raise awareness.
The Galveston County Children’s Services Board will be hosting an event at Del
Papa Distributing Co., 1220 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX. Please join us on the fence line to tie blue ribbons, as the blue ribbon is symbol of Child Abuse Awareness month.  We will be tying 746 blue ribbons, one for every victim of child abuse in our county in 2017. We are inviting community service providers, school staff, organizations, churches and any other interested parties to come join us a for a few moments and tie a ribbon in honor of a victim to raise our voices to speak out against child abuse and neglect. Please join the Children’s Services Board in tying blue ribbons.
