THE NEXT time the Astros are at home, it will be in the American League Divisional
Series as they begin their final week of the regular season on the road. The
end of the weekend also means the home opener for the Texans and the start of
the week ushers in another exciting Tuesday of high school volleyball.
SUNDAY: The Astros close out the home portion of the regular season when
Charlie Morton (15-3) takes the mound at Minute Maid Park against the Angels’
Tyler Skaggs (8-8, 3.97 ERA) beginning at 1:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet will have its
coverage start at 12:30pm.
While the Astros push toward defending their World Series title, the Texans are
simply pushing for an end to their 0-2 start when they welcome the Giants for their
home opener at NRG Stadium. The noon kickoff will mark only the fifth time the
teams have faced each other, with the Giants having won the last three meetings,
including a 30-17 win over the Texans in 2004. Fox-26 will have the game live.
Cowboys fans can keep it on Fox when their 1-1 squad visits the Pacific Northwest
to face the Seahawks beginning at 3:25pm. Dallas will look to hand Seattle an 0-3
record while also seeking to keep pace in the NFC East. The Seahawks have won
three of the last four meetings but the Cowboys hold the all-time series lead with
a 10-7 mark.
MONDAY: Framber Valdez (3-1, 2.20 ERA) begins the final week of the regular
season for the Astros when they visit the Blue Jays in the first of a three-game
series. Toronto will go with Aaron Sanchez (4-6, 4.89 ERA) when the first pitch
is thrown at 6:07pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start the pregame show at
5:30pm.
TUESDAY: The high school volleyball schedule begins at 5:00pm when Hitchcock
visits Boling, followed by La Marque at Brazosport at 5:30pm. Alvin at Clear Brook,
Clear Falls at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Clear Lake each begin their matches
at 6:00pm, while Friendswood at Baytown Lee, Santa Fe at Crosby, Dickinson
at Pasadena Dobie, Texas City at Galena Park and Galveston Ball at Goose Creek
Memorial each start at 6:30pm.
Texas City’s boys and girls tennis teams return to action when they hit the road to
face District 23-5A rival Galena Park.
Dallas Keuchel (11-11, 3.71 ERA) will start for the Astros in the middle game of the
series against the Blue Jays starting at 6:07pm. Marco Estrada brings his 7-11 record
and 5.57 ERA to the mound for the host team. The pregame show will begin
at 5:30pm.
