ENTERING THE final week of the high school football regular season, here’s how the area’s playoff picture looks: DISTRICT 24-6A: Clear Springs (6-3, 5-0) clinched a third straight district crown last Friday. Dickinson (8-1, 4-1) is locked in and is scheduled to play Pearland in the bi-district round at The Rig on November 16 (7:00pm). Clear Creek (4-5, 2-3) and Clear Brook (3-6, 2-3) are still alive. Both need wins in order to have hope, as the Wildcats meet the Chargers while the Wolverines take on a Clear Lake team (4-5, 3-2) that can entrench themselves into the postseason with a victory over Brook. A loss by both Clear Creek and Clear Brook could bring Clear Falls (5-5, 2-4) into the picture. DISTRICT 10-5A-1: Friendswood (6-3, 3-3) needs a win over Angleton and a Hightower (3-6, 3-3) loss to Richmond Foster in order to make the postseason. Shadow Creek (9-0, 6-0) has clinched the district title, with Angleton (8-1, 5-1) is in the second seed and Foster (5-4, 4-2) in the third spot. DISTRICT 12-5A-2: Santa Fe (5-4, 4-2) clinched the program’s first playoff berth since 2009 with a win over Dayton last Friday. The Indians, who play Barbers Hill (6-3, 4-2) on Friday could seize the third seed with a win. Nederland (9-0, 6-0) is the district champion and Port Neches-Groves (6-3, 5-1) is in the second seed. DISTRICT 11-4A-2: Despite Friday’s loss at Wharton, La Marque (3-6, 2-2) is assured a ninth straight playoff berth regardless to what happens against Kashmere (1-8, 1-3) in the Coogs’ home finale this Friday. DISTRICT 13-3A-1: Hitchcock (6-3, 2-2) put themselves into the postseason for a fifth straight year after a win over Boling last week. Rice Consolidated (8-1, 4-0) has won the district title while Columbus (5-4, 3-1) and Palacios (5-4, 2-2) are also in the playoffs. *Friendswood alumn Tyler Page played a key role in SMU’s 45-31 win over thennationally ranked Houston last Saturday, catching his second touchdown pass of the season that helped break the game wide open. Page caught a 22-yard scoring strike from Ben Hicks early in the second quarter that gave the Mustangs a 17-0 lead they would not let go.
