THE HOLIDAY BREAK comes to an end for area students, as Tuesday returns to its usual night filled with basketball and soccer. The Rockets are also on the docket during the first full week of 2019. Meanwhile, fans in Houston and Dallas will know if the chance for an all-Texas Super Bowl will still have hope or just another season filled with wishful thinking. SUNDAY: With both the Texans and Cowboys having played their respective Wild Card games on Saturday, the day will be filled with both fan bases either looking forward to the Divisional Round or lamenting what might have been. MONDAY: One high school contest is on the schedule, as South Houston visits Santa Fe in boys’ soccer starting at 6:00pm. The Rockets look to continue their recent run of success as the Southwest Division leaders host the Nuggets beginning at 7:00pm. Houston got out of Denver with a 109-99 win on November 13 behind 24 points and nine rebounds from Clint Capela. AT&T Sportsnet will begin its coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm. TUESDAY: The boys’ basketball schedule starts with Alvin at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Falls, Clear Lake at Clear Springs, Texas City at Crosby, Friendswood at Galveston Ball, Goose Creek Memorial at Santa Fe and state-ranked La Marque at Van Vleck, with each scheduled to tip at 7:00pm. East Bernard at Hitchcock will start at 7:30pm. In girls’ basketball, Crosby at Texas City starts at 6:00pm, followed by East Bernard at Hitchcock at 6:15pm.
