As we close out February, many people are eager about starting their spring gardening. They are picking out just the right seeds and planning how they expect those seeds to turn into a wonderful harvest. Our lives are much like those seeds. In order to grow, the tiny seed must be buried in the dirt and covered in darkness to wait. It must be fertilized which is pretty gross stuff and rained on and not all of those showers will be gentle rains as Spring progresses. Some will be torrential storms, with thunder, lightning, high winds and even hail, and our seedlings will take quite a beating. Still the seed must struggle every day to sprout, grow and reach for the light, for without the light, it cannot grow. I know I’ve had my times where I’ve felt like I’ve been left in the dirt where it was dark, and withstood violent storms wandering through it, afraid and alone. But it was in those dark and stormy times that encouraged me to find the light that was shining through the darkness! If you are in a dark place, don’t give up. You are due a harvest, winter will be ushered out, and Spring is on its way. Your time of being buried in the dirt of your winter will cease and you will blossom!
