Will Rockets have chance to provide bonus Mother’s Day gift?
MOTHER’S DAY TOPS ALL, but the schedule does offer a heaping helping of Astros baseball.
There also remains a chance that the Rockets will have at least one more game on their 2018-
19 docket.
Sunday: Yes, it’s Mother’s Day, but Rockets fans will also hope the afternoon includes a chance
to see the home team in a Game 7 showdown at the Warriors. Houston trailed Golden State 3-2
in the best of seven Western Conference Semifinal going into Friday’s Game 6 at Toyota Center.
Should the Rockets force a winner-take-all scenario, it will be televised live on ABC-13 beginning
at 2:30pm.
There will be baseball at Minute Maid Park when the Astros host the Rangers in the final game
of a seven-game home stand. Struggling hurler Collin McHugh (3-4, 6.37 ERA) takes the mound
for Houston and will be opposed by Adrian Sampson (0-2, 4.41 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest
(Astros) and Fox Sports Southwest (Rangers) will each start their pregame shows at 12:30pm
before the first pitch reaches the plate at 1:10pm.
Monday: Friendswood’s Heidi Demel will carry the banner for the Mustangs as she participates
in the state 5A girls’ golf championships, which will be held today and Tuesday at White Wing
Golf Club in Georgetown. Demel is the area’s sole representative in the girls’ field.
It’s no rest for the weary, as the Astros visit the Tigers in the first of a six-game road trip out
east. Brad Peacock (3-2, 4.30 ERA) is scheduled to start for Houston, while Detroit will hand the
ball to Matthew Boyd (4-2, 2.86 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its coverage at
5:30pm with the pregame show leading into game time at 6:10pm.
Editor’s Note: There is the possibility that Monday’s schedule will include high school baseball
and softball playoff games, as the threat of heavy rain Thursday thru Saturday could alter
matters. The Post Newspaper will update the schedule if necessary while Brandon C. Williams’
Twitter Page (@BCWilliams71) will also include any schedule adjustments.
Tuesday: Wade Miley (2-2, 3.20 ERA) gets his return in the Astros’ rotation in the middle game
of the series at the Tigers, who will turn to Spencer Turnbull (2-2, 2.31) when the first pitch is
tossed at 6:10om. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start the evening with the pregame show at
5:30pm.
