Astros continue home stand with Red Sox, Cubs
TO NO SURPRISE, the final week of the high school year is quiet as seniors prepare for
graduation. The Astros get the local scene to themselves, concluding a series against the
vaunted Red Sox before the Cubs arrive to Minute Maid Park in what could be (dare it be said?)
a potential World Series preview.
Sunday: Coming off an eight-inning gem that saw him allow just one hit while striking out 12,
Astros hurler Justin Verlander (8-1, 2.24 ERA) looks for a fifth straight win when the Astros close
out a weekend series against the visiting Red Sox, who will toss Eduardo Rodriguez (4-3, 5.43
ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage with its pregame show at 12:30pm, which
leads into the first pitch at 1:10pm.
Monday: An early start awaits the Astros on Memorial Day, as they face the Cubs beginning at
1:10pm. Gerrit Cole (4-5, 4.11 ERA) gets the start for Houston, while Chicago turns to veteran
Cole Hamels, who brings a record of 4-0 with an ERA of 3.38 into the contest. AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 12:30pm.
Although the official kickoff was Saturday, Memorial Day will see a host of anglers pursuing
over $1 million in prizes as the annual STAR Tournament commences across the Gulf Coast. The
highlight of the tournament will be the specially-tagged redfish in which winners receive
complete boat and truck combos. Registration can be found at startournament.org.
Tuesday: H-Town area native Corbin Martin (1-0, 3.86 ERA) will get to start in front of family
and friends when he takes the mound for the Astros against Cubs lefty Jon Lester (3-2, 4.09
ERA). Game time is set for 7:10pm, with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starting coverage with the
pregame show at 6:30pm.
