Home sweet home awaits Astros after long road swing

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL gets its usual busy Tuesday slate while the Astros finally get the chance to sleep in their own beds for the first time in nearly two weeks.

Sunday: Zack Greinke (12-4, 3.08 ERA) gets the start for the Astros in the finale of their road trip against the A’s beginning at 3:07pm. Oakland will counter with Brett Anderson (10-8, 3.95 ERA) when the teams collide on AT&T Sportsnet Southwest, which begins its pregame show at 2:30pm. The game will also be part of the ESPN+ package.

Monday: The day’s lone high school volleyball match of the day will have HFCA at La Marque beginning at 5:00pm.

The Astros return home to open a 10-game homestand when Gerrit Cole (14-5, 2.87 ERA) returns to the rotation after being scratched from his previous start to face the visiting Tigers, who will throw Edwin Jackson (3-5, 8.62 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show followed by the game at 7:10pm.

Tuesday: A busy evening of volleyball begins at 5:30pm with Dulles at Clear Brook and Memorial at Clear Springs. Deer Park visits Clear Creek at 6:00pm, followed by Dawson at Clear Falls, Alief Hastings at Galveston Ball, Friendswood at Pearland, Dickinson at Santa Fe and Pasadena Memorial at Texas City each beginning at 6:30pm.

It will be Wade Miley (11-4, 3.11 ERA) getting his turn in the Astros rotation in the second of the four-game set against the Tigers beginning at 7:10pm. Detroit will go with rookie Spencer Turnbull (3-11, 3.75 ERA) right after AT&T Sportsnet Southwest completes its pregame show, which begins at 6:30pm.
