Are you thankful? We speak of giving thanks at this time of year, but are we truly thankful in and for all things? Are you thankful in awful traffic? Are you thankful when the doctor gives you bad news? Are you thankful when your only car breaks down and leaves you stranded with no money to fix it? Are you thankful when the progress report or report card shows you that your child isn’t doing as well as you expected? Are you thankful in all of your storms in life no matter from whence they come? Learning to live in thankfulness can be challenging at times. But it is necessary if you want to live in peace and walk in joy.
I pray that each of you find your Thanksgiving in all things, both good and bad. It’s why we have a day set aside for the giving of thanks. Remember, it is not just one day that we should be thankful. It is what we should be doing as long as we have breath. Today as I write this, it is the anniversary of when I delivered my premature baby girl. She was stillborn. The pain is still ever present, but I am challenging myself to remain thankful, even as I still grieve her loss. To each of you I wish a Happy Thanksgiving day. But more than that, I wish you a thankful life.
