WITH THE TEXANS DONE FOR THE SEASON, the focus shits to basketball, where the Rockets will meet Western Conference contenders in Portland and the LA Lakers. There’s also the annual CCISD girls’ soccer tournament along state-ranked boys’ basketbell teams Dickinson and La Marque play the role of host in Friday high school action.                                                               

Wednesday: Summer Creek makes the trip to Clear Brook for a 5:00pm wrestling meet. 

The Rockets play the first of two nationally televised games when the Trail Blazers visit Toyota Center at 8:30pm on ESPN. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will also have coverage, with their pregame show starting at 8:00pm.

Thursday: Each of the Clear Creek ISD schools will be part of the CCISD girls’ soccer tournament, which runs through Saturday and will also include Friendswood. Galveston Ball will host its own annual tournament while Santa Fe takes part in the Salado Tournament.

Clear Brook, Clear Springs and Friendswood’s boys’ soccer teams will be at the Katy Mojo Tournament, while Clear Creek takes part in the Longhorn Challenge held on the campus of the University of Texas. Clear Falls is at the Battleg Tournament, while Galveton Ball plays hosts for their own tournament.

Clear Springs hosts a wrestling tri-meet that includes Beaumont and Bay Aree Christian starting at 5:00pm.

Friday: The boys’ high school basketball schedule tips off with Sweeny visiting state-ranked La Marque at 6:30pm. Clear Lake at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Springs, Friendswood at Crosby, Alvin at state-ranked Dickinson, Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball and Santa Fe at Texas City each start at 7:00pm, followed by Van Vleck at Hitchcock closing out the slate at 7:30pm.

In girls’ basketball, Van Vleck at Hitchcock starts at 6:15pm, while La Marque at Sweeny gets underway at 6:30pm. Dickinson at Alvin, Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, Clear Springs at Clear Creek, Clear Brook at Clear Lake, Crosby at Friendswood and Texas City at Santa Fe each start at 7:00pm.

The boys’ soccer slate has Dickinson at Fort Bend Elkins, Fort Bend Dulles at Santa Fe and Houston Northside at Texas City each beginning at 7:30pm.

Texas City’s tennis teams will be at Alvin starting at 3:00pm.

In powerlifting, Santa Fe and Texas City will be among the schools taking part at the Alvin meet.

The wrestling docket has Clear Springs and Friendswood among the field competing at the Tiger Classic held at Klein Collins High School. 

Saturday: Santa Fe High School hosts its own powerlifiting tournament, while La Marque travels to Katy Grand Oaks for a powerlifting meet. 

In wrestling, Clear Falls hosts its own event that will include Clear Creek, while Clear Brook welcomes George Ranch for a meet. 

The Rockets welcome LeBron James and Anthony Davis to Toyota Center for a nationally-televised game against the Lakers that starts at 7:30pm. KTRK 13 will have the game live.
