THE PACKERS AND TEXANS could make Sunday’s meet a high scoring affair, opening the start of a new week that includes high school volleyball, track and swimming along with the start of the team tennis fall playoffs.

Sunday: Expect points to come early and often as the Texans host the Packers at NRG Stadium beginning at 12:00pm. Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson has been blistering hot in the first two games after the firing of coach/GM Bill O’Brien and will need to keep that pace against Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will be looking to rebound after a bad outing in last week’s loss at Tampa Bay. KRIV 26 will have the game live.

With Fox airing the Texans, Cowboys fans will have to get off the couch to catch Dallas visiting the Washington Football Team. The sluggish Cowboys will have Andy Dalton at the helm for a second straight game when kickoff beings at 12:00pm.

Monday: Moody Gardens is center stage for a girls’ golf meet that will be hosted by Galveston Ball. Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Clear Springs and Texas City will be among those competing in the event that starts at 8:00pm.

Fall league softball begins as HCYA visits Texas City at 7:30pm.

Tuesday: The high school volleyball schedule begins with Clear Falls at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Dickinson at 6:00pm. La Porte at state-ranked Friendswood, Galveston Ball at Manvel, St. John’s at Santa Fe and Baytown Sterling at Texas are each 6:30pm starts.

Fall tennis playoffs begin with bi-district play across both Class 6A and 5A.

Swimming and diving are in play as well, with Rosenberg Terry visiting Doyle Natatorium to meet Texas City at 5:00pm. Clear Brook hosts a tri-meet (Dawson, Dobie) while Clear Creek welcomes Shadow Creek.
