Super Bowl Sunday leads into the opening day of the high school softball season. The week also includes the final regular season games of the boys’ high school basketball schedule along with baseball teams getting their final scrimmages in before the season begins for them next week.

Sunday: Oh, yeah. They’re playing a football game that will have millions across the world watching. Included in said game is a big halftime show and commercials that cost a pretty penny to air. Plenty of food and drinks will be had, and we’ll all talk about what we saw on Monday while swearing off junk food.

Monday: Love is in the air, and this Valentine’s Day also means opening day of the 2022 high school softball season. Highlighted is a clash between area powerhouses Clear Creek at Santa Fe beginning at 6:30pm.

A handful of high school baseball scrimmages include Clear Brook at Santa Fe and Dickinson at Dawson beginning at 4:00pm. Shadow Creek visits Friendswood at 5:00pm.

One boys’ soccer match is on the slate with Baytown Lee at Santa Fe beginning at 7:30pm.

Texas City’s boys golf team will be among those in action at Moody Gardens Country Club in a meet that is hosted by Galveston Ball.

Sweet, lovely Monday ends when the Rockets visit the Jazz at 8:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 7:30pm.

Tuesday: The final night of the high school basketball regular season has state-ranked Hitchcock at Hempstead at 5:00pm, followed by Stafford at state-ranked La Marque at 6:30pm (game can be listened to on Victory Sports Network). State-ranked Clear Brook at Clear Falls, Clear Creek at state-ranked Dickinson, Clear Lake at Clear Springs, Texas City at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at La Porte, and Santa Fe at Baytown Lee each start at 7:00pm.

Opening week of high school softball includes East Chambers at La Marque at 4:30pm, while Stafford at Hitchcock gets going at 5:00pm. Friendswood at Dickinson and Pasadena Memorial at Texas City both start at 6:30pm.

The boys’ soccer schedule has La Marque at Hamshire-Fannett at 7:00pm, followed by Clear Brook at Clear Springs, Clear Falls at Brazoswood and Clear Lake at Dickinson at 7:30pm.
