LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS – A ‘whole person’ approach to caring for seniors might seem like the standard in the modern world of senior living. While there’s no question communities strive and often succeed in whole person care, it can be challenging without a tried-and-true approach.
That’s where the Eden Alternative comes into play. Founded more than 25 years ago, the Eden philosophy provides an approach to care that upholds each senior’s “right to a life full of purpose, connection, empowerment and possibility.”
“Very quickly after meeting the leadership team at The Crossings it was clear that their dedication to train, mentor, model and encourage this approach was full speed ahead,” said Kris Angevine, community builder with Eden. “They are determined to build on their strong foundation of values and take it to the next level as a community.”
Michael P. Cummings, healthcare administrator at The Crossings said he came to the community with a passion for finding modern ways to handle care that go beyond just physical well-being.
“Michael’s approach fit nicely with our mission, the things we were already doing and our desire to continue to push the envelope in terms of living out our values,” said Greg Rossi, executive director. “That, combined with becoming officially designated with Eden, means the future could not be brighter here at The Crossings.”
In fact, The Crossings is just the second community in the state of Texas to achieve the Eden designation.
“Our associates have embraced everything about Eden,” said Cummings. “That, combined with great communication to our residents and their families has made this a very successful and very popular approach to senior living.”
