
Over the course of 2022, there may not be a bigger day than Thursday,
which will see baseball, softball, track and field and powerlifting. Dickinson, Galveston Ball, Hitchcock, Santa Fe and Texas City each host their
own baseball tournaments while Clear Creek ISD has its annual softball
tourney.
WEDNESDAY: The road to state is one step closer for high school girls’ powerlifters as they take part in the Region meet at Alvin High School beginning at
4:30pm.
THURSDAY: Highlighting a very busy high school baseball tournament schedule will be Texas City hosting “The Oldest Tournament in Texas” out at Robinson
Stadium. Meanwhile, Clear Brook and Clear Springs are at the La Porte Tournament, with Clear Creek taking part in Galveston Ball’s Sandbar Tournament.
Clear Falls and Friendswood are among the teams taking part in the Pearland
Tournament, while Dickinson hosts its own tourney. La Marque is at the Hitchcock Tournament, and Santa Fe welcomes a competitive field at its own tourney.
The softball schedule is equally busy, as Clear Creek ISD hosts its annual tournament that includes each of its five high schools along with Dickinson and
Galveston Ball. Friendswood is at the Alvin Tournament, with Hitchcock going to
Marshall to participate in the school’s Round Robin Tournament. La Marque is at
the Fort Bend Marshall Tournament (Thursday and Saturday).
There’s also track and field with Texas City hosting the 409 Relays that will also
feature Dickinson and La Marque. Friendswood and Santa Fe will each be at the
Maverick Stampede at Pasadena Memorial.
In powerlifting, Dickinson hosts the Last Chance Invitational for boys to reach
the regional finals. Texas City will be among the schools competing. Hitchcock’s
boys’ will host an invitational that begins at 4:00pm.
Lest we forget, the 24-6A soccer schedule overstuffs this day with Clear Brook
at Clear Falls, Dickinson at Clear Creek and Clear Springs at Clear Lake comprising the boys’ portion. The girls’ schedule has Clear Falls at Clear Brook,
Clear Creek at Dickinson and Clear Lake at Clear Springs. Each match starts at
7:30pm.
FRIDAY: While everyone else is playing tourneys, Santa Fe’s softball team will
be at home against Manvel at 6:30pm. La Marque skips away from the Fort Bend
Tournament to visit High Island for a 4:00pm start.
Soccer is also on the docket with La Marque at East Chambers kicking off the
girls’ schedule at 5:00pm, followed by La Porte at Friendswood, Galveston Ball
at Manvel, and Texas City at Baytown Sterling at 7:30pm.
The boys’ schedule will have La Marque at East Chambers at 7:00pm, with
Friendswood at La Porte, Galveston Ball at Manvel, and Baytown Sterling at
Texas City at 7:30pm.
Following a lengthy All-Star Break, the Rockets return to action when they visit
the Magic at 6:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 5:30pm.
The District 24-6A tennis schedule will land at Clear Brook, which will host this
week’s meet.
SATURDAY: The day will be filled with the final day of baseball and softball
tournaments.
