The weather will be much better outside, so there’s every reason to get out and partake in what will be a huge weekend of local high school and professional sports, highlighted by the annual CCISD baseball tournament.
Wednesday: A pair of soccer matches highlight the schedule as Friendswood and Clear Lake meet at Challenger/Columbia Stadium. The girls’ match starts at 5:30pm, while the boys’ match starts at 7:30pm.
The Rockets host the Jazz at Toyota Center for a 7:00pm matchup. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Thursday: The highlight of the weekend will be the CCISD baseball tournament, with Friendswood and Texas City among the teams competing with the district’s five high school squads. Also in tournament play is Dickinson, which is at Crosby, while La Marque is at the Anahuac Tourney, and Santa Fe, who takes part at the Montgomery Tourney.
Area high school softball teams are also active in tourneys, with Clear Springs and Friendswood at the Fort Bend ISD Tournament. Dickinson is at Barbers Hill, Hitchcock participates in the Bay City Tourney, La Marque embarks for Galena Park (Thursday, Saturday), while Santa Fe is at the Liberty/Huffman Tournament.
Dickinson plays host for the regional powerlifting meet. Those advancing will head to Abilene for the state finals later this month.
Friday: The boys’ high school soccer schedule has Clear Brook at Brazoswood, Clear Creek at Clear Springs, Clear Falls at Clear Lake and Baytown Lee at Friendswood each starting at 7:30pm.
On the girls’ side of things, Brazoswood at Clear Brook, Clear Springs at Clear Creek, Clear Lake at Clear Falls and Friendswood at Baytown Lee each begin at 7:30pm.
Track and field action will have Dickinson and Texas City’s boys’ team at Texas A&M’s Bluebonnet Invitational in College Station. Santa Fe hosts the Reggie Crosby Relays that will also include Friendswood and La Marque among the schools competing. Hitchcock is at the Brazos Tournament, while the Texas City girls’ team will be at the Gulf Coast Relays in Freeport.
A number of high school softball games are on the schedule with Clear Brook at Dayton and Bay City at La Marque each starting at 5:00pm, followed by Clear Falls at Wharton at 6:00pm.
There’s also tennis, with Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs at La Porte, while Clear Creek is at the Katy Varsity Tournament and Santa Fe at Texas City at the Angleton Tournament.
Capping off the day will be the Rockets visiting the Nuggets at 8:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts its coverage with the pregame show at 7:30pm.
Saturday: The Dynamo continue its home portion of the 2022 MLS season when they welcome Sporting Kansas City at 2:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have coverage.
