After a wild and interesting opening week of the 2024 high school football season, Week 2 has each of the county’s teams in action, with Texas City at Ball the highlight matchup.
Wednesday: In tennis, Clear Falls at Clear Brook starts at 3:00 pm, Dickinson at Clear Creek at 3:15 pm, and Brazoswood at Clear Springs at 4:00 pm.
Thursday: One volleyball game on the slate as La Marque visits O’Connell at 6:00 pm.
Friday: High school football starts at 7:00 pm with Clear Brook at Eisenhower, Clear Creek at Shadow Creek, George Ranch at Clear Falls (Challenger-Columbia), Houston Heights at Clear Springs (Veterans), Dickinson at CE King, Willowridge at Friendswood, Hampshire-Fannett at Hitchcock, Houston Wheatley at La Marque, Santa Fe at Vidor, and Texas City at Ball.
Meanwhile, the volleyball slate has Dickinson at St. Agnes at 5:30 pm and Texas City at Hitchcock at 6:00 pm. Friendswood at Deer Park and Santa Fe at Goose Creek Memorial start at 6:30 pm.
The tennis schedule has Ball hosting the Ike Tourney with Clear Falls, Clear Springs, and Friendswood among the teams. Meanwhile, Dawson at Clear Creek starts at 3:15 pm.
Saturday: The college football schedule begins at 11:00 am with #4 Texas at #9 Michigan (KRIV26), followed by McNeese at Texas A&M (SEC Network) at 11:45 am. Sam Houston State at Central Florida (ESPN+) kicks off at 5:30 pm, with TSU at Rice (ESPN+), Prairie View at Northwestern State (ESPN+), Mississippi Valley State at Lamar (ESPN+), and Tarleton State at Houston Christian (ESPN+) at 6:00 pm. Stephen F. Austin at North Texas (ESPN+) is at 6:30 pm, with Houston at #16 Oklahoma (SEC Network) beginning at 6:45 pm.
